Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. Thus, the study relied on already published studies, reports and statistics. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library.

Findings: The findings revealed that there exists a contextual and methodological gap relating to the impact of virtual reality on historical education. Preliminary empirical review demonstrate its positive effects on learning outcomes, student engagement, and motivation. The immersive and interactive nature of VR experiences provide students with a unique and engaging way to explore historical contexts, develop critical thinking skills, and deepen their understanding of historical events. VR in historical education has shown to enhance knowledge retention, foster historical inquiry skills, and promote long-term retention of learned information. The findings suggest that integrating VR technologies into historical education can significantly enhance the overall educational experience and improve students' learning outcomes.

Unique Contribution to Theory Practice and Policy: The Constructivism theory, Presence theory and the Social Learning theory may be used to anchor future studies relating to the impact of virtual reality on historical education. Based on the reviewed studies, educators are recommended to integrate VR experiences into the curriculum for historical education; to ensure access to high-quality VR content; to provide adequate training and professional development opportunities for educators as well as have more forums for continued research and evaluation.

2023-06-29T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Mike Victorhttps://www.iprjb.org/journals/index.php/IJHR/article/view/2016The Impact of Decolonization on Political and Social Landscapes in Africa: A Case Study of Kenya2023-06-28T16:32:29+03:00Andrew Oteyoinfo@iprjb.org
Purpose: The general objective of this study was to investigate the impact of decolonization on the political and social landscapes with emphasis on Kenya.

Methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library.

Findings: The findings revealed that there exists a contextual and methodological gap relating to the impacts of decolonization on the political and social landscapes in Africa. Preliminary empirical review revealed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and promoting citizen participation in the political process. This includes enhancing transparency, accountability, and representation to address the persistent challenges of corruption and unequal power distribution. Additionally, supporting and empowering civil society organizations is crucial for advocating social justice, human rights, and democratic governance, enabling them to play an active role in shaping the post-colonial landscape.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The Postcolonial theory, the Dependence theory and the Critical Race theory may be used to anchor future studies on the impacts of decolonization on the political and social landscapes of Africa. The study recommends that African nations can navigate the challenges and harness the opportunities of decolonization, paving the way for inclusive, democratic, and sustainable development by focusing on the economic development, addressing the ethnic conflicts, increasing investment, improving infrastructure and addressing quality disparities.

2023-06-28T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Andrew K. Preliminary empirical review revealed that the impact of industrialization on urbanization in the 19th century was a transformative force that shaped the trajectory of cities worldwide. The rapid growth of industries during this period led to a significant migration of people from rural areas to urban centers in search of employment and economic opportunities. This influx of population resulted in the expansion of urban areas, the development of new infrastructure, and the emergence of modern cities as we know them today.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The Modernization theory, Marxist theory and the Urban Ecology theory may be used to anchor future studies relating to the impacts of industrialization on urbanization in the 19th century. It is crucial to prioritize sustainable urban planning strategies that consider the long-term implications of industrialization on urban growth. Furthermore, to address the social challenges arising from industrialization, governments should invest in social welfare programs. This includes providing affordable housing, access to quality healthcare and education, and social safety nets for vulnerable populations.

2023-06-28T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Gina Kwame
