We continue this discussion of Monopolar HVDC systems.

Methodology: The analyses that are carried out include double phase-to-ground fault, single phase-to-ground fault and three phase-to-ground fault at the AC side of the rectifier and the DC line to ground fault.

Findings: It is discovered, among others, that for three phase-to-ground fault, the voltages at the AC side of the rectifier, the DC line voltage and the voltage at the inverter side of the load are completely zero but that the current in the rectifier will increase from its standard value though will be less harmful and the current of the inverter side will decrease from its original value. It is further discovered that the fastest transient will be the case when fault is applied to the DC transmission system and that transmission network is of critical importance in high voltage transmission lines and engineers can also use this result to identify different faults in the transmission lines and the care of power quality is highly important because of electrical energy demand.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The current in the rectifier decreases from its standard value but will be less harmful. The causes of decrease in DC transmission line depend on severity of the fault such as single phase to ground, double line to ground and three phase-to ground at the rectifier side.

Olumoroti Ikotun Suleiman Shehu Copyright (c) 2023 Olumoroti Ikotun, Suleiman Tijjani Shehu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-03-06 2023-03-06 4 1 10.47604/ajcet.1814 Adopting a Lean Construction Wheel (LCW) to Tanzanian Construction Firms. A Case of Class I Building Contractors in Dar Es Salaam https://www.iprjb.org/journals/index.php/AJCET/article/view/1820
Purpose: This paper proposes a Lean Construction Wheel (LCW) to be a framework for Tanzanian construction firms. Absence of a lean construction framework brings failure into the implementation of lean construction, and this is attributed to a low level of awareness of lean construction.

Methodology: Quantitative research approach was used to assess the application of LCW principles by 57 Class 1 local building contractors located in Dar es Salaam. The results were analysed through the Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) were figured out.

Findings: The findings show that the term lean construction was found to be terminology to Tanzanian contractors, but still, they apply some of the lean construction principles.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The effect of the study will enhance the contractors to understand the importance of a lean construction framework and will encourage them to opt for the LCW framework. It will also create an urge to develop more frameworks that are better off for the Tanzanian construction industry

Phillipo Sifa Geoffrey Mbatta Copyright (c) 2023 Phillipo Sifa, Dr. Geoffrey Mbatta https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-03-07 2023-03-07 4 1 10.47604/ajcet.1820 The Effects of Internal Security on Educational Challenges and Development in Nigeria https://www.iprjb.org/journals/index.php/AJCET/article/view/1818
Purpose: The security trials threatening the Nigerian state in this 21st century have disregarded any definite justification both from the government and private viewpoints. Unexpectedly these challenges are internally generated. Expressions like militant, insurgent and terrorist became a nearby impression in line with the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria where attacks on people, property and government infrastructures are Spartan. The challenge is that some of these groups’ aggressions have rare the peaceful co-existence of the society and the core value of the Nigerian state.

Methodology: This paper explores documentary analysis on the severity of attacks on the Nigerian state from the fourth republic with a key interest on the possibility of these attacks to lead to the balkanization of the country into different nations as suggested by viewers.

Findings: Terrorism is a global phenomenon. It is the use of violence and intimidation to coerce for various reasons. In recent times, the spate of terrorist attacks by various groups seeking political and religious reforms in Nigeria is alarming and has become worrisome as they pose a serious threat to Nigeria’s security. Furthermore, they are gradually destroying public confidence in the nation’s security system. Conditions which support the development and growth of terrorism in Nigeria range from socio-economic factors such as poverty to religion.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The paper argues that terrorism has adverse implications for Nigeria’s security. Socio-economic transformation, security and sensitization and collaboration among security agents among others are advocated as possible solutions to the menace.

Akilu Bakari Copyright (c) 2023 Akilu Umar Bakari https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-03-06 2023-03-06 4 1 10.47604/ajcet.1818 Citizenship Education in the 21st Century for Nigerian Polytechnics https://www.iprjb.org/journals/index.php/AJCET/article/view/1823
Purpose: Three substantial problems are visible in the teaching of citizenship education in the polytechnic. Firstly students are studying the courses only with the intention of passing their examinations and getting a diploma. Secondly the issues of ideology. It is whenever we notice the problematic that we will appreciate the ideology attractiveness of the course, which hinges on Western developmental framework. Thirdly the problem encountered by the teacher of citizenship education. This study intend to provide some useful information on how to be a good citizen of a particular nation, for both staff and students in Nigerian polytechnics.

Methodology: This work adopted qualitative research design, and some readymade materials for data collection. These prompt the researcher to carry out this study for easy access of information.

Findings: Education for involved democratic citizenship as an educational drive overcomes the disintegration transversal connections of the different devotions, and could become a part of citizenship consolidation. There has been a focus on the cure of social and environmental harms ascending from the certainty that education must be focused towards the foundation of a serious and publically involved citizenship, helping to realize social reality and its problems and to build social thinking to manage the difficulty of this reality, and encouraging participation in the formation of democracy and enlightening cohabitation.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Serious importance need to be given to citizenship education from primary to post-secondary level of education in the Nigerian polytechnics. Multi - disciplinary approach should be employed as a method of teaching citizenship education at higher level of education. Citizenship education should be introduced at all levels of teachers training institutions.

Akilu Bakari Copyright (c) 2023 Akilu Umar Bakari https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2023-03-07 2023-03-07 4 1 10.47604/ajcet.1823 The Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Payroll Operations for Polytechnics in Nigeria https://www.iprjb.org/journals/index.php/AJCET/article/view/1819
Purpose: Payrolling of staff in polytechnics lays significance on prompt rewards and productivity.
